Vision & Values

OUR MISSION:
What God is calling us to do

Our Mission is to live and share the grace of God so our communities experience His transforming love and peace.

OUR BEDROCK BELIEFS:
Foundational beliefs we stand on

1.  God’s Word We believe God’s Word, not human wisdom, informs and directs all that we believe and teach and practice.  The truths of God’s word are timeless.  Our challenge is to present these timeless truths in ways that are meaningful to people of our time and place.
2 Tim 3:15-17
2.  God’s Grace We believe that God’s grace is at the heart of who we are and how we live.  As people who have experienced his unconditional love, we can’t help but embrace those both within and outside the Prince of Peace communities with unconditional love and acceptance.
Col 3:12-17
3.  Prayer We believe that we can do nothing without God.  Prayer connects us with God and strengthens and sustains our relationship with him.  We are committed to be a praying people who support and cover every part of our planning and ministry with prayer.1 Thes 5:17-25

OUR  CORE VALUES:

1.  Acceptance / Diversity We recognize the PoP community is made up of people from a whole variety of backgrounds and experiences. We believe that it is this diversity that enriches us and therefore we strive to celebrate it. We affirm that unity is maintained by living our Bedrock Beliefs rather than through conformity.
1 Cor 12:12-26
2.  Personal Growth / Transformation We seek to bring God’s grace to people in such a way that they not only understand it but experience it firsthand.  When God’s grace is experienced, lives are transformed.  That’s the goal; not to understand God’s grace as a concept, but to be transformed by it.  In the same way, the goal is not to be able to explain God but to experience him, to be in a personal, daily, growing relationship with him.
2 Cor 3:18
3.  Varied, Engaging, Relevant Worship We believe that worship is the core of our Christian journey.  While we can connect with God on a one-to-one basis, God calls his people together in corporate worship where he comes with his grace to free us and empower us and send us out to our communities with his transforming love.  As a varied community, and because people are wired in different ways (auditory, visual, etc), our worship will reflect a wide variety of approaches.  It will be inclusive, relational, interactive and transformational.
Deut 5:12; Heb 10:25
4.  Heart for the lost Lost people matter to God.  They matter to us too.  Jesus came to seek and save the lost.  They were his top priority.  Our mission will also reflect this priority for those who don’t yet know Jesus.  Our aim is to be incarnational (sharing God’s grace in our various communities) rather than attractional (waiting for people to be attracted to us and come to us).  At times this will mean inconvenience and cost on our part, but it is a path that we willingly take because as “once lost but now found” people we are prepared to do whatever it takes to bring Jesus to the lost.
Luke 15:1-7
5.  Servanthood Just as Jesus came to serve and not to be served, that is to be our focus.  Our first question is; “How can we serve you?” not; “how can you serve us?”
Matt 10:35-42; Phil 2:5-11
6.  Empowerment We believe that each Christian has been uniquely shaped and gifted by God for ministry.  We will help each person to discover their gifts, seek a corresponding ministry area, and then support and encourage them as they serve.  We especially recognize the importance of identifying, developing, equipping and empowering leaders.
John 20:19-23
7.  Authentic Relationships Grace is best understood and appropriated when it is lived out in relationships.  It is in the regular interaction with people where people can drop their masks and be real.  That’s where real ministry happens, where people are accepted and loved and cared for and prayed for.  To be authentic means that we will not shirk asking the hard questions or dealing with the difficult issues.  We will do this by “speaking the truth in love”
John 13:3-15
