Members of Prince of Peace Church have come together to make a real difference in the lives of mothers and babies in Papua New Guinea (PNG). In a recent effort, they gathered to assemble 80 birthing kits that will be sent to remote areas of PNG where access to medical care is limited.
The birthing kits contain essential items such as clean sheets, gloves, soap, gauze, and other supplies that are necessary for a safe and clean birth. These items may seem basic to us, but for mothers in PNG, they can mean the difference between life and death.
PNG has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world, with many mothers and babies dying due to preventable complications during childbirth. This work will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the lives of mothers and babies in PNG, and their example will inspire others to do the same.
The project was led by a group of dedicated women who volunteered their time and energy to coordinate the effort. They should be commended for their commitment to making a difference in the world. They have demonstrated for us ways in which we can become an oasis of connection and wellbeing at PoP Church.
