The Power of a Timid Prayer

The Power of a Timid Prayer

Some people are “Rolls Royce” prayers (they go so smoothly!). Others are “old bomb” prayers. Most of us fit somewhere in between. And most of us have some struggles with prayer.
This message deals with a father who struggles with prayer. His son is deaf, mute, epileptic and demon possessed. He’s desperate and in need of a miracle.
Note his prayer: “If you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.” (22b).
It’s not a courageous, confident prayer, but a timid prayer. Yet Jesus answers it with a powerful miracle. Why? Because the power is not in the prayer or the pray-er. It is in the One who hears it!
That’s good news for us! Our prayers may be awkward, timid. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it, our prayers can make a difference.
